Preschool

Parents want their children to be kindergarten ready. And so do we. That's why our preschool curriculum has been carefully designed, with the help of top child educators, to take advantage of certain windows of opportunity in a child's life when specific types of learning take place. The individual attention and responsive, sensitive care giving that we provide are critical to a child's development.

The ages change, but our philosophy of fun, love and learning stay the same. They may not know they're learning, but you will.

You walk through St. Pete Prep and you see children "playing" They are playing dress up, Building with blocks or pouring rice with cups. In the two year old classroom, the children are scribbling with big crayons or saying nursery rhymes together. When children build a tower with blocks, they learn size, weight and number concepts they will use in math. When they scribble on paper, they build the small muscles needed for writing with a pencil. While singing together with their classmates and teacher, children learn to cooperate with each other, which is another important skill for school.

Studies Show that children with a good pre-school experience adjust better to the transition into the primary grades and have an easier time getting through life.

Two Year Olds

Our "Just for Twos" curriculum is a complete developmental program. We teach colors, numbers, shapes and letters. Your child will be involved in Circle Time, Art, Language Development and Music Movement.

Three Year Olds

Your three year old will be doing stimulating, challenging activities like painting, singing, dancing, playing and story time which are scheduled throughout each day.  Group oriented activities are planned to encourage your youngster to work along with other children his or her own age.

Four Year Olds "Pre-K"

Your child's learning experiences will expand through the exciting pre-kindergarten curriculum designed specifically to prepare them for the next step, kindergarten. Your pre-school child will listen to classical selections of literature like you did when you were a child. Nothing can replace the magic of stories like "Little Red Riding Hood," "The Three Bears" or "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse." All major reading skills are developed as children experience all the excitement that these timeless stories, poems, and rhymes bring. Colors, numbers, shapes and letters are still being taught and expanded on. Additional activities like singing and finger plays encourage the development of language and comprehensive skills.
