KindergartenOur Private Kindergarten curriculum features the A-Beka Language and Art Series, problem solving, and concept skills for math, science, and social studies. The phonics based reading readiness books are full of carefully sequenced activities in recognition, sound, and the formation of vowels (long & short), consonants, consonant-vowel blends, and one syllable words with one or two vowels. Their writing with phonics help the children to see the exact formation of the letters. Five year olds are eager to learn, and the parents are delighted with their achievement using the A-Beka Book program. Students enjoy a balanced program in which care has been taken to consider every development facet. They are given a good foundation in basic skills and are motivated to look forward to Elementary School. The Language Arts Phonics and Reading encompasses recognition of name, sound, and picture of long and short vowels and consonants, sounding of blends, one and two vowel words, and words with speech sounds, beginning phonics rules and special sounds, reading of sentences and stories from twelve books containing one and two vowel words and special sounds. Cursive writing with letters, blends, words, sentences and name. Recognition of sentences by capital letters and periods. Poetry, thirteen poems committed to memory. The A Beka Book Arithmetic covers number recognition, counting, and writing 1 to 100, number concepts 1 to 100, numbers before and after 1 to 100, numbers largest and smallest 1 to 100, counting and writing by tens to 100, counting and writing by fives to 100, counting and writing by twos to 100, number sequences by ones. The Science portion covers animals, seeds, the seashore, weather, seasons, and myself. Social Studies teaches about America, our great country, map studies, famous Americans and places, Children of the world, and community helpers.
