About St. Pete PrepSt. Pete Prep Learning Center is a Preschool, Kindergarten, Elementary, Before and After School Care and Summer Camp facility all in one. St. Pete Prep is your little one's head start in life. We make learning fun and growing up a little easier. We take that extra care to provide the most positive learning environment possible. Studies show that children with a good pre-school experience adjust better to the transition into the primary grades and have an easier time getting through life. There are numerous reasons why St. Pete Prep is different from other centers. We have an outstanding curriculum for each age group. We are aware of the importance of safety and security and our facility is designed with this in mind. At St. Pete Prep Learning Center we believe that each child is a unique individual and should be treated with understanding and respect. We provide bright, colorful classrooms so that children are cared for in a positive, happy and stimulating environment. Our teachers are chosen with care. A loving, nurturing disposition as well as a good educational background that meets or exceeds the Pinellas County License Board Standards, is mandatory. References are carefully checked by the center Director, and a complete background investigation including fingerprinting, is done by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. (F.D.L.E.) We believe in taking the children at their own pace toward given objectives. We also have a checklist of skill areas within which we work on specifics, such as developing motor skills, dexterity, balance, etc. Social development, sharing, respect and positive interaction with other children and adults is emphasized. Music is another area of importance at our school. We have a modified Montessori Program. We utilize both the latest in teaching aids and equipment and we are more structured than Montessori. We limit the number of children in each classroom, in accordance with the Pinellas County License Board. We sometimes have fewer children than allowed in a specific class in order to give even more individual attention. Our classrooms are organized into a central activity area surrounded by learning centers. We have structured lesson plans in which the entire class participates. A commensurate amount of time is allocated for the children to explore and discover in the various learning centers. Outdoor Physical activities are of vital importance for all age groups and we have an excellent choice of age appropriate equipment in each playground. We begin a computer skills program in the Kindergarten class. As the children develop and mature we advance to complex computers and software. We think "Children are Special People." We hope to supplement, rather than duplicate the home. Our Children are encouraged to use materials creatively and are provided first-hand contact with their environment. They are stimulated, and encouraged to discuss their experiences with others, especially their parents and friends at home. We provide healthful opportunities for social adjustments, help them consider the rights of others, share, and stand up for their own rights in socially accepted way. We strive to reduce tendencies towards shyness and teach the children to cooperate, but still maintain individuality. Our philosophy is that learning should be a fun experience. Our center provides a safe, clean, loving second home for the children. Their mental and physical well being are our prime concern. We want the parents to feel secure in the knowledge that their children are happy and well cared for in a nurturing environment that strives for the very best in preschool and after-school care.
